How to Seriously Seek Knowledge

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:  "Knowledge is gained by striving for it."  Ibn 'Abbaas said: " 'Be faithful slaves to your Lord, patient and learned.' And it is said that the good instructor is the one who starts teaching people simple matters of knowledge before more difficult ones."  It was narrated that Qays ibn Katheer said: "A man came from Madeenah to Abu'l-Darda' in Damascus and he said,  'What brought you here, my brother?'  He said,  'A hadeeth which I have heard that you narrate from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).'  He said,  'Have you come for any other reason?'  He said,   'No.'  He said,   'Have you come for trade?'  He said,  'No. I have only come to seek this hadeeth.'  He said,  'I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, "Whoever follows a path to seek kn...

Some Examples of Great People

There are many great men and women in history. They were rare examples of piety, morals, and the best qualities a human being can ever have. Allah the Exalted has told us in the Holy Qur’an a lot about such men and women; on the top being the infallible Messenger Muhammad sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam and the other Messengers `alaihimus salaam who were great examples of patience, faith and Jihad in the way of Allah. They also fought the people of heresies and they were really the ideal people to be followed. Allah the Exalted described the morals and manners of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam as: “ And verily, you (o Muhammad) are on an exalted (standard of) character. ” ( Qur’an 68:4 ) Narrated Anas radiyallahu `anhu: “ I have never touched a velvet or silk that was more tender than the hand of Allah’s Messenger sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam and I have never smelt any perfume more nice than the smell of the Messenger’s body. I served the Messenger ten years, he nev...

LIFE

Image
Life is the name of purpose, struggle, love, dedication and a number of feelings and emotions. Life shows its true colors with time. It depends upon you that how you look towards life and what is your strategy of leading an ideal life. Life takes a number of turns during its whole span. Life may not be kind to you all the times. There are tough times which really test your courage and your capabilities of facing unfavorable situations. How well you tackle these adverse conditions prove your credibility. People who just close their eyes to avoid facing the hardships of life are coward. They do not have courage and stamina to stand firm in front of life’s demon. Remember that nothing can be done without trying, without striving hard to get yourself out of the trouble, without facing the situations. Such incidents in life improve your approach towards destiny. These incidents may entirely change one’s life (in some cases). These make your thinking a bit more rational. If there were no suc...

Humanity

Humanity as a Religion  Humanity as a Vision   Humanity as a way of Life  Humanity is the Religion Your family is the Mecca & Vatican of this religion This religion alone is the way of life for Human Beings A message from all religions in this world It is a fact, Religions today no longer serve the purpose for which they came into existence. The very basic theme of each religion was to teach, how to love each other and bring us closer to ourselves and to God. Today the opposite is happening, Religions are not uniting but dividing us. Forget the differences from religion to religion, each now has so many divisions. The biggest problem Religions are bringing in is Fundamentalism and in-tolerance, giving birth to Fanatics, who are ready to destroy our freedom, just in the name of religion. It is about time, to rectify our vision, rectify our way of life, and mould them to what the various religions originally desired. Humanity is the religion which all religions preach, ...

A SERMON FROM THE DYING TO THE LIVING

There once lived in Basrah a prolific and profoundly spiritual worshipper whose fear of the Hereafter caused him to become physically weak, and whose constant crying made him skinny and sick. When he was on his deathbed, his family gathered around him, and they all began to cry. “Help me sit up.” He said. He addressed his father first: “O my father, what is making you cry?” “My son,” began his father, “I remembered that I will lose you, and that I will be alone after you die.” The worshipper then turned his gaze towards his mother and said, “O my Mother, what is making you cry?” “I am crying because I will soon have to taste the bitterness of losing you,” she said. He then turned to his sister and asked, “what is making you cry?” “Because I will soon lose out on your kindness and will consequently have to depend on others for help,” she said. Finally, he looked at his children and asked, “what is making you cry?” “The prospect of hard and humiliating life of being orphans after you die...

FOCUS ON YOUR CHARACTER

In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of truth. There are two particular hadiths that are extremely important for Muslims to keep in mind; one establishes the foundations of Islam, telling us about the basis for this religion, its absolute pillars, while the second relates to the way in which one beautifies this structure of Islam and ones iman, representing the roof, adornments, embellishment and outward expression of this structure. As Muslims we are attending the masjid, praying five times a day, fasting during the month of Ramadan, paying zakat once a year and performing hajj, if we have the ability to go, and if not we still desire to go to perform hajj. These are the foundations. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Islam is based on five pillars: shahada, to declare there is no God except Allah and Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) is Allah’s Messenger, then to establish the salat, to pay zakat, to make hajj to the House [of Allah most High] and to fa...
